Called Tak Bat Phra Roi (alms-giving to 100 monks), this rare Mon ceremony is held in the Lam Pla Thew Canal that runs by Wat Sutthaphote.
What can go wrong, and what can we do?
Why are some boys and some girls attracted to the same sex? Why are some girls tomboys and some boys effeminate? What are the contributory factors? There are information from the realm of developmental psychology.* that can give us valuable insights. With many case studies, we also see the important role of family relational health on the matter. * Information are from Center for Gender Wholeness, Dr Janelle Hallman PhD, Dr Joseph Nicolosi PhD, and many local clinical case studies.
These are beneficial information for anyone from religious teachers, leaders, parents, people struggling with their gender issues, to the conservatives and traditional social leaders. Crucially, we are helping religious groups shape their stance towards this issue, based on sound psychological principles which are in line with all religious faiths, enabling a compassionate yet serious well-informed response to help young people with same sex attraction and other gender identity issues they did not ask for. And we will know how to help instead of condemning. We will not fear to know them better with greater understanding and compassion. This course also presents the issue in human experiental terms (informed by clinical cases) suitable for anyone in the front line of ministry, family life and formation.
Description of 3 day course : This course provides views from the psychological sciences explaining why same sex attraction is not chosen by the person who has it. It aims to remove prejudice and misconceptions, firstly at the social level… because only thereafter can individuals deeply hidden can be reached, attended to, and supported by the community. The course covers a wide range of issues including family dynamics, various kinds of harm, effects of bad patriarchy in society, what is Intersex, what religious/ faith communities can do, etc.
Who should attend? People of all faiths, community leaders, policy makers, people in the education ministry, teachers, officers, religious persons, priests, monks, nuns, mental health practitioners, counsellors, psychologists, social-workers, youth workers, and anyone interested to respond to this issue. The lectures will be given in English. This International Education Course is intended to be affordable for those who cannot afford to engage Professionals from first-world countries. Certificate of attendance will be issued to participants.

Lecturer : Mr. Bryan Crucis Shen MSoc (Counselling) is a Professional
Counsellor and Supervisor of Counsellors, registered with the SAC. He has experience counselling Asian male and female cases with same-sex attraction, and has had peer discussions with leading Professional therapists on this issue in the US. He is also an experienced Lecturer on Family issues and in counselling senior & junior seminarians. He has conducted this Course for three consecutive years. And he is called by religious groups from many Asian countries to lecture on this subject.
