Re: Celebration of World Communications Day 2018
Your Eminences / Excellencies / Reverend Administrators / Monsignors / Reverend Fathers / Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
We are looking forward to the Solemnity of the Ascension on May 13, 2018 which is also World Communications Day. Dubbed with the theme “The truth will set you free” (Jn 8:32), Fake news and journalism for peace”, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, gives us ample time to reflect on what we can do to preserve the integrity of journalism which is slowly being corrupted by fake news.
I am sending the complete and summarized messages of the Holy Father. Meanwhile, keep posted as to the release of our 5-minute video which parish priests may download and show to the public before every mass. All these materials could be downloaded from our site: www.cbcp-ecsc.org. There are three things I would like to lift to your attention: First, please be reminded that there will be a second collection in all the masses in your parishes on this day. Twenty (20) percent of the collections will be used for the pastoral projects of the Episcopal Commission on Social Communications while the rest may be utilized for your Diocesan Ministry of Social Communication. Second, this August 6 – 9, 2018 we will hold the Fourth National Media Convention in the Archdiocese of Davao. Again, we shall be subsiding for your participants’ attendance to the event. Third, I would also like to remind your Eminences / Excellencies of your annual contribution to Radio Veritas Asia.
