Today is a sad day for JUSTICE in the Philippines. Eight Associate Justices of the Highest and Most Honorable Court of our land decided to BULLY their Chief Magistrate and USURP the Constitutional Power of the Senate by ousting Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno from her office through a controversial Quo Warranto decision.
This action, seen by many as a political move, will and has diminished the dignity of the Judiciary itself and has set a very bad and dangerous precedent.
The Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas (Council of the Laity of the Philippines), with its entire membership, is saddened by this reckless act and calls all faithful and freedom-loving Filipinos to continue to fight for Righteousness, Justice and Democracy.
We will not surrender!
In prayer and with collective mass actions, we will persevere and continue to work for the high ideals of Justice and Wisdom. We will take the higher moral ground and fight against impending tyranny and dictatorship. Make no mistake! GOD IS IN CONTROL. JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL. THE FIGHT HAS JUST BEGUN.
